Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics, at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA is pleased to present the solo exhibition: “Heidi Schneider: Internal Landscapes.” The exhibition of paintings and drawings will take place from February 4th through May of 2008 at the Williams School Gallery in Huntley Hall.
Schneider’s paintings and drawings explore personal narratives of solitude along with spiritual and psychological awareness within nature. Motifs include the setting of the ocean, along with the use of individual and collective figures around water. The work in the exhibition features her most recent narratives and plein air landscape paintings set within the rocky coast of Maine and the sandy beaches of Virginia. A variety of processes are used to create the paintings such as preliminary sketches, photo-collage, observation, and literature.
Schneider received her B.F.A from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, MN and her M.F.A in Painting from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Solo and group exhibitions she has participated in include regional and national venues such as Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, ME; The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA; and the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Newport News, VA,. She has been a Visiting Instructor of Studio Art at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA since 2005.
