Facilities

The Williams School is housed in a completely renovated building that formerly served as the university library. The modern design of the building provides students with intimate classrooms, private study carrels, ample access to computer laboratories and faculty offices, and state-of-the-art multimedia equipment.

A computer lab that features 30 Windows XP workstations is available 24 hours a day. A mobile cart with 24 wireless laptops allows professors the ability to turn any Williams School classroom into a lab. There are 12 computers that allow for quick e-mail and Internet access are located in the library. There are three group workstations in the library. Every classroom is wireless enabled and equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia equipment. In addition to popular software programs for web browsing, word processing, spreadsheet analysis, data analysis, and computer presentations, students can use specialized programs to simulate business activity, study the dynamics of the economy, and understand the functioning of political institutions such as Congress. By making use of the Internet, students have access to advanced data bases located in other cities and universities around the world.

Computer labThe computer lab and faculty office computers in the Williams School are connected by a sophisticated, Novell NetWare-based network system. This network allows students to access their documents from any campus workstation, to share documents with others easily, and even to turn documents in to their professors electronically. A full-time Technology Coordinator, Lloyd Goad, works in the Williams School, where he assists faculty members and students in making use of the latest computer technology. Technical Specialist, Gabriella Somerville Brown, provides on-site support of computing hardware and software and network printing for faculty, staff and student labs supporting Apple, Novell and Microsoft Windows.
