The Williams Gallery in the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, is pleased to announce the opening of “A Different Path; A Different View”, an exhibition of sculptures by Ken Smith of Staunton, Virginia, on Friday, September 14th.   There will be a talk by Dr. Smith at 5:30 p.m. in Huntley Hall, room 221, followed by a reception.  The public is invited to attend.

Stone is the predominate media for Smith’s work, although several bronzes will be among the pieces exhibited.  The range of his over is far reaching covering historical, political and the general human condition such as birth, life and death.  These topics are represented in rhythmic figurative images that are intense and sometimes disturbing to the viewer.  Smith's work is noted for its power and technique. 

Most recently Smith had his monumental work "Hallelujah" installed at the U.S. National Slavery Museum in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  

The exhibit will run through the 15th of January 2008.  Gallery hours are 8:00 a.m. to midnight daily and admission is free.
