Departmental Mission and Goals

Preamble:

We believe that liberal education is based on honest and rigorous intellectual inquiry, and consists of the collection of experiences drawn from across a wide range of academic programs and disciplines as well as from other activities. Liberally educated individuals are enlightened and have the foundation to contribute to society with vision and integrity. Our department contributes to liberal education by offering high quality experiences drawn from the intellectual content of our discipline.

Mission:

To advance the understanding of the academic discipline of accounting through teaching, scholarship, and service.

Goals:

To advance the understanding of how, when, and why to recognize and measure the economic effects of transactions and events (both actual and planned) on an entity.

To advance the effective communication of financial information to interested parties.
