Professor Cline joined W&L's faculty in 1975.
He was formerly a research associate and taught courses in economics at Oklahoma State University. His previous experience also includes associate systems engineer and marketing representative with IBM.
During 1999-2000, he was a Fulbright senior scholar at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago. In past years, he has been the recipient of grants from the United Nations, the National Science Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the U.S, Department of Agriculture, U.S. Small Business Administration, the W&L Class 1965 Endowment for Excellence in Teaching, and others. In 1987, he received the Commonwealth of Virginia "Outstanding Faculty Award."
His current research interests include business and economics statistics education and the Calypso/Soca music industry in Trinidad and Tobago.
Professor Cline teaches courses in Statistics, Quantitative Models, and Business in a Changing World. His wife, Julie, is the news office manager at W&L.
