VITAE

Professor Culpepper “returned” to W&L in August of 1999 and is teaching Business Law and a seminar course entitled “Negotiation & Dispute Resolution in a Business Environment.” He is also serving as co-advisor to the Williams Investment Society and as a pre-law advisor for the undergraduate university at large.

After completing law school, Professor Culpepper practiced law for several years and then served as a district court judge in Virginia for nineteen years. During that time, he also taught Business Law from time to time at Washington & Lee from 1974-86 on a part-time basis.

Prior to coming back to W&L, he was working as general counsel for a large footwear company in North Carolina. He continues to serve as a certified mediator and arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and several other dispute resolution organizations.

And now, after all four children are officially out of the house, Bob and his wife, Susie, are presently “trying to cope” with their new status as empty-nesters.
