VITAE

Professor Macdonald joined W&L's faculty in January 2001.

He teaches Art in Business, a team project-oriented course which focuses upon the logo and its role in history and commerce, the package and how corporations compete for brand share, and the world of modern of advertising.

Professor Macdonald brings more than 40 years of experience to the course. His various positions have included illustrator/designer in London, advertising executive in New York with Young & Rubicam (largest advertising company in the U.S.), and chief executive office (now chairman emeritus) of his own agency, Libby Macdonald & Shear Inc. He and his firm received three CLIO's, three Society of Illustrators awards, and one Edison Award for their work. In the past decade, they have done campaigns and packaging for such firms as Pepsi Cola, Nabisco Foods, Bacardi, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson and Merrill Lynch.

He and his wife, Sunny, have just completed fixing up their 200 year old farm house and are learning to farm and to love life in the Shenandoah Valley.
